Welcome Newly Credentialed Practitioner!

On this page you will find information relating to the maintenance of your new credential.

  1. CDR's website.

    You can update your database profile (address, telephone number, e-mail), enter your learning plan, log your CPE credits, and pay your registration fees on-line through CDR's website. Log onto www.cdrnet.org on the left-hand side of the screen, click on the button entitled Log In: Address Change, Fee Payment, Learning Plans, Activity Log. You must use your registration identification number and web password listed in the e-mail. Please keep your selected web password in a secure place. Upon payment of the registration fees you will be sent an one time complimentary personalized wall certificate to display your registered status. RDs who remit the registration maintenance fee on an annual basis will receive a one-year certificate. RDs who remit the registration maintenance fee for a five-year period will receive a five year certificate.

  2. Professional Development Portfolio

CDR's recertification system, the Professional Development Portfolio (PDP), is designed to assist credentialed practitioners in planning for their professional development. A copy of the Professional Development Portfolio Guide will be sent to you under separate cover. You are encouraged to review this information carefully and submit your learning plan as soon as possible. More information on the Professional Development Portfolio can be found on CDR's Web Site, /pdrcenter/portfolioTOC.cfm by clicking on the Professional Development Resource Center, Professional Development Portfolio or the Continuing Professional Education Data Base. Key to your success as a dietetics practitioner is engaging in lifelong development to maintain and improve knowledge and skills for competent practice. This includes continual self-assessment to identify professional strengths and learning needs, establishment of short and long-term goals for individual professional development and selection of appropriate continuing professional education to meet these goals.

  1. State Licensure

Several states have enacted laws which regulate the practice of dietetics. Should you plan to practice in these states it is important that you contact the state regulatory agency prior to obtaining employment or practicing dietetics.   1. Code of Ethics for the Profession of Dietetics

The Academy's Code of Ethics for the Profession of Dietetics provides guidance to dietetics practitioners in their professional practice and conduct. It also assists the Commission in complying with its mission to protect the nutritional health, safety and welfare of the public by enforcing ethical behavior among Academy members and non-member RDs and DTRs.   3. Membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is separate and distinct from registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Separate payments are required for the Academy's membership dues and registration maintenance fees with CDR.
