In August, 2000, CDR approved the addition of district-level elected office as part of the definition of "Professional Leadership." This means that under the new CPE definitions developed as a part of the Professional Development Portfolio process, practitioners will be able to earn CPE credit for serving as an elected officer at the national, state or district level.
CDR reviewed the results of the successful two-year pilot test of the Professional Development Portfolio process on August 12, 2000. Suggestions from the pilot participants are currently being used to edit and streamline the portfolio process in preparation for implementation on June 1, 2001.
Revised Professional Development Portfolio materials will be printed and mailed in March 2001 to participants who will be starting their recertification cycles on June 1, 2001.
Revised Registration Maintenance Guidelines reflecting the new CPE options effective June 1, 2001 will be mailed to RDs and DTRs who are not yet beginning the new Professional Development Portfolio process. All credentialed practitioners are required to use the new CPE options, effective June 1, 2001 even though they may not begin the Portfolio process until June 1, 2002, 2003, 2004, or 2005.
