After completing the self-study module, participants will be able to:

- Recognize current research evaluating the efficacy of leading popular diets and diet approaches for weight management.
- Begin to understand Metabolic Syndrome (Syndrome X) and its relation to obesity.
- Describe and begin to apply counseling skills important to successful client weight management.
- Become familiar with principles of the non-diet approach to weight management.
