Developing a Clinical Program for the Management of Childhood and Adolescent Obesity

Vanessa Thornton MS, CSP, RD

Vanessa received her BA from the University of Minnesota in Cultural Studies.  Before entering the field of Nutrition, Vanessa worked for a variety of child health-focused non-profits including Make-a-Wish Foundation and Fitness Forward.   She realized helping children through nutrition was her true calling and went on to earn her MS in Nutrition from Boston University.

Vanessa is currently the Level IV Pediatric Dietitian at Newton Wellesley Hospital in Newton, MA. Her primary focus is managing the Weight Management Program at the MGH for Children Ambulatory Care Center. Over the past 6 years, her clinic has served over 200 children and teens with obesity.

Vanessa lives in downtown Boston, MA with her husband and baby girl and looks forward to either running or cheering at the Boston Marathon every year.
