What are CDR CPEU Prior Approved Enduring activities?

CDR CPEU Prior Approved Enduring activities (activity type 741) are self-paced activities that endure over a three-year approval lifespan and include methods for providing informal feedback or formal feedback and assessment to learners. Examples may include but are not limited to online interactive educational modules, recorded presentations, printed materials, or podcasts.

What is the Provider Capped CPEU Assignment for CDR CPEU Prior Approved Enduring activities?

The Provider Capped CPEU Assignment for CDR CPEU Prior Approved Enduring activities is 35 CPEUs. Each CDR CPEU Prior Approved Enduring activity may not be offered for more than 35 CPEUs. There is no limit to the number of CDR CPEU Prior Approved Enduring activities that a CPE Provider can submit through the CDR CPEU Prior Approval Program.

If a CPE Provider wishes to offer an enduring activity for more than 35 CPEUs, the Provider can create a CDR CPEU Prior Approved Certificate Program (activity type 120).

How will CPEUs be assigned for CDR CPEU Prior Approved Enduring activities?

CPEUs will be assigned based on the format of the enduring activity.

Components of an activity that are non-reading based (for example, a recorded presentation), will be assigned CPEUs based on time where one contact hour (60 minutes) = one CPEU. CPEU assignments shall correspond to submitted timing outline(s).

Components of an activity that are reading based (for example, printed material) will be assigned CPEUs based on the word count of the printed material(s) in relation to a standardized reading speed of 100 words per minute.

Time for informal feedback and formal feedback and assessment will be included in the CPEU calculation.

CDR CPEU Prior Approved Enduring activities will not need to undergo review by three Content Expert Reviewers.

Will the CDR CPEU Prior Approval Program include Recorded Pre-Approved activities (activity type 175)?

No. Under the CDR CPEU Prior Approval Program, there will not be an option for Recorded Pre-Approved activities (activity type 175). Enduring activities will need to be submitted as stand-alone activities.

Will live activities require Prior Approval?

Live activities do not and will not require Prior Approval for learners to claim CPEUs. If a learner wishes to claim CPEUs for live activities that are not Prior Approved, the activity must meet a CDR activity type definition and CDR's Content Criteria.

If my organization provides live activities that do not go through Prior Approval, can we still use the CDR logo?

No. The only authorized use of the CDR logo is on the CDR CPEU Prior Approval CPE certificate, which may only be used for CDR Prior Approved activities. CDR does not permit the use of its logo under any other circumstances.

If a single CPE activity has live and enduring components, will it need to be submitted as two separate activities?

No. CDR will have the option of selecting "mixed" on activity submission for CPE activities that have both live and enduring components.

Will the CDR CPEU Prior Approval Program include Posters as an activity type?

Yes. Under the CDR CPEU Prior Approval Program, CDR CPEU Prior Approved Posters will be activity type 181.
